YES!

Congratulations to the 44th president of the United States of America, Barack Obama. I am proud to call myself an American today...and I am thrilled to say, "I have HOPE!"

Hope and pride -- I can't remember the last time I connected those two emotions to the political process. And those emotions stem from my belief in the intelligence, the dignity, and the decency of the man we have elected as our President.

I'm overjoyed and hopeful too, Jen. It is a new day!!!

At last, we will have a President who is a gentleman, who conducts himself in presidential fashion. The change, after the excesses of Bill Clinton and the blundering of George W. Bush, is staggering.

I went to buy papers today, one of my brothers wanted them for historical purposes, and there are NO papers to be had. The Cleveland Plain-Dealer says they are sold out and will not reprint. The Columbus Dispatch, after three calls to their circulation department, clearly intend to keep the public as ignorant as possible; this is in keeping with their endorsement of the wrong candidate. The Cincinnati Enquirer was much more helpful and is sending me a copy today.

I snagged a copy of the PD this morning on the way in to work. I'm planning to have the front page laminated.

Oh, the PD! Now I gotcha! (We Columbus people are slooowww...) Thanks anyway, Jen, I found one (used, but intact) finally and I didn't even have to steal it from the library.

Hope has been in short supply these past eight years, hasn't it? Cynicism we've had; belligerence we've had; incompetence we've had; dishonesty we've had in excess. But hope? Naahhhh.

So I think rejoicing is appropriate.
