Wow, a couple of those could knock out some famous names early.
Woooie! Kiki versus Jack Reacher? Oh, my gosh. That's definitely looking at the opposites, isn't it? The original Mrs. Nice Guy against Mr. Take No Prisoners!
Interesting matchups!
Boy, could I tell I don't read that many amateur sleuths. There were a lot of protagonists I didn't even know.
I can't wait to see who makes it to the next round... I'm also going to have to look up some of the unfamiliar names. Go Amlingmeyer Brothers!
Wow. Some interesting pairings here, Jen. I'm pushing my traditionalists...but I agree with the earlier comment that some of the famous names are likely to be knocked out early...sigh... (I've promoted this at my blog as well.)
I am out of my league. Didn't realize how few amateur sleuths I read.
You guys aren't alone! I had to look up a lot of these nominees to make sure they were amateur sleuths. I'm learning a lot with this tournament. It'll be interesting for sure!
Lisbeth Salander was the only modern sleuth I'm familiar with.
What about the Dana Girls?
Nice to see some old favourites like the Hardy Boys (my first intro to mysteries), Marple etc in the running. And fantastic to see Joan Druett's truly terrific and unique hero Wiki Coffin - a part Maori US seaman solving crimes while on board 19th century shipping expeditions - in the running too.
Some tough calls too - a shame to lose one of Salander/Father Brown, and one of Bergztrom/Yussef in the first round, but that's the way it goes, I guess...
Thanks for organising this all Jen.
